February powder in Niseko is proving quite the roller coaster this year. We’re experiencing massively contrasting conditions from last week to this week. With one of the biggest snow storms of the year hitting Japan right now (it just snowed 20+ cms in Tokyo), this week’s Powder Experience trip is set for a big week!

But in the mountains, big storms almost always come with high winds. And in high winds, chairlifts can’t operate (humans have a hard time operating too, of course). While it’s easy to find deep snow in these conditions, this high wind makes it challenging in other ways.

Last week we experienced one of the the least snowy weeks in February in our memories. But we still found powder, as that’s what we do… detour to powder even when you think there’s no powder to be found!

Our Powder Experience weeks take you to five different resorts around the Niseko area over a six day period. We found powder every day on last week’s trip, and even found time to hike the peak.

To Joyce, JT, Scott, Christine and Steven; thanks for joining us for a super-fun week!
